This beautiful old book belongs to my partner as you can see it has certainly been made use of over the years, we have searched the net for information on how old it might be but thus far have come up with nothing…. they don’t make them like this anymore and would love to get it restored.

  1. Alice has provided a challenge for other illustrators, including those of 1907 by Charles Pears and the full series of colour plates and line-drawings by Harry Rountree published in the (inter-War) Children’s Press (Glasgow) edition. Other significant illustrators include: Arthur Rackham (1907), Willy Pogany (1929), Mervyn Peake (1946), Ralph Steadman (1967), Salvador DalΓ (1969), Graham Overden (1969), Max Ernst (1970), Peter Blake (1970), Tove Jansson (1977), Anthony Browne (1988), and Helen Oxenbury (1999).

    • Wow thank you so much I had a hunch wordpress would be the site with all the knowledgeable people to be πŸ™‚ I will enjoy looking at the link πŸ™‚ Such a wonderful story when you study the depth and meanings!

      • HI,

        ***all the knowledgeable people

Please exclude me from this list…I learnt to some extent how to search. That also can be done by anyone. Nothing great. πŸ™‚

All I did was, instead of searching by author’s name, I tried with another name I happened to see on your 2nd image. I don’t know whether the link will give you a clue with regard to the aging.

I will surely add this book in my list of books to read. I am sure it will be in my sister’s huge library.

        Take care. πŸ™‚

        Regards
        Babu, Suresh

      • I thank you again as not many take the time as you do and it is appreciated πŸ™‚ My day job is in education and we just studied Alive in Wonderland form original to new visions….. It is amazing how in-depth it is for a children’s story, I honestly didn’t like it when I was little but I get it now! Thanks again have a great weekend and more of your own pics up πŸ™‚

      • Grand weekend to you too.

My wife literally forced me to read Emma but to my great surprise I started liking and enjoying reading the book.

I like doing things because I don’t mind failing in my tasks. I am beginning to get some confidence in putting up my pictures, of course thanks mainly to you. πŸ™‚

        Take care.

        Regards
        Babu, Suresh

      • Oh thats kind…. your wife sounds like a very smart lady πŸ™‚ put some pics up she likes and make her proud all wives deserve that πŸ™‚
